These works are  personal reflections and abstract representations regarding the universality of forces, both human and natural, in terms of space, form and texture. They are composed on paper bags mounted on screens and painted using water soluble media and collage.  While viewing this work, one can explore their own personal journey.
Paper bags with handles may represent two masses  or forces in opposition, i.e.,  natural, human, societal, cultural, economic.  Additionally, they  can be seen as  more  personal struggles of coupling.   Handles may bring to mind suitcases, things we carry or leave behind on our journey. Also they connote windows or doors which, open or close, symbols for arrival or departure, a beginning or end. The seam between the masses can be viewed as a bridge or transition between two worlds while screens beneath bags offer the possibility of a safety net or an obstacle.

Art is my way of conveying my thoughts and perceptions of being alive at this place and time.

In Mid-March 2020, New York City was under lockdown due to Cov19. The scarcity of painting materials forced me to reconsider how I would resume creative expression. The result was the following works entitled,

“SHELTERING IN PLACE”
